Strategy Development and Implementation

In every situation, no matter the objective, a cohesive strategy must be formulated and employed to confront the numerous challenges to get the job done. At KZG, we realize this need and at the outset of all our client relationships, we take the time to thoroughly assess how public opinion, local/state political developments, and legislative issues could affect a project. Upon this review and with input from our clients, we formulate strategies which take into account these factors, both in terms of their usefulness and detriment to a project. At KZG, we also build flexibility and options into our strategies, always aware that accomplishing the goals of our clients revolves around mastering a very fluid legislative and political landscape in New Jersey and your bottom line. We find all these considerations create the most effective strategies.

Community Outreach and Public Affairs

An important factor in gaining the support of policy makers and other state government officials is getting to know them and learning what priorities factor into their decision-making. To help our clients garner support for their proposals, we regularly identify and arrange outreach opportunities with individuals who can impact the outcome of any issue. KZG is able to schedule and attend meetings with elected officials at the federal, state and local levels, community leaders, and representatives of interest groups which take a position on a particular issue. These meetings allow our clients to educate these individuals on the merits of their work, address concerns on a first-person basis, and cultivate relationships which could prove beneficial in the long-run. KZG is also able to conduct follow-up outreach with these individuals as needed to gain further political intelligence and a better understanding of their support/opposition for any action.

Regulatory / Permitting Assistance

New Jersey historically has been known as a state with a highly-complex, often hard to navigate permitting and regulatory structure. For a large-scale project, numerous agencies at the state, county and local levels are responsible for permitting in a wide-range of areas. During the permitting process, applicants sometimes encounter processing delays and/or general unresponsiveness by agencies which could ultimately jeopardize an initiative. Having worked with numerous clients on permit applications and regulatory compliance in areas such as transportation, the environment, and healthcare, KZG has learned how to help our clients secure these approvals in a timely manner. Our role in this process usually entails working with high-level staff in these agencies to maintain an open dialogue for clients so they can monitor the status of their permit applications as they work their way through the review process. Also, if an application were to be delayed for any reason, this open line of communication with agencies may help to resolve issues before they become major problems for a client.

Crisis Management and Communication

During the lifespan of a project, unforeseen issues can arise which need to be carefully assessed and communicated to both the public and policy makers alike. Without a calculated, well-positioned response, the spark of a minor issue can turn into raging wildfire which insights the public and in turn incenses policymakers and community leaders against even the most well-intentioned project. In our representation of numerous high-profile clients, we have routinely developed thoughtful response plans and crafted appropriate messages. We will also contact officials at all levels of government in an effort to help control the interpretation of events. In a similar manner to public relations’ representation, our firm can provide this assistance directed at elected officials and other high-level decision-makers.

Political Intelligence

We believe that our clients require a frequent assessment of the policy and political developments in Trenton and around the state. Our clients are accustomed to a detailed level of policy and political insight that can be used in positioning themselves relative to any issue. KZG intends to deliver these services through regular updates. These updates can be supplemented further as needed by you prior to important meetings or deadlines. In addition, KZG frequently examines daily press releases and newspaper articles to provide you with immediate commentary on various issues that may be of interest to you.
